Patrick Poivre d'Arvor has presented the tv news for 30 years and has written nearly 70 books since his first novel, « Les Enfants de l’aube », written at 17 years old. Many of them have been awarded by juries prestigious: « l’Irrésolu » received the Prix Interallié (2000), « Un enfant » was distinguished by the readers of the Livre de Poche (2001) or « La mort de Don Juan », novel that won the Prix Maurice Genevoix
(2004).
Books tribute to his daughter Solenn, whose rights went to the construction Solenn House, have been hugely successful ( « Lettres
à l’absente », 1993 and « Elle n’était pas d’ici, 1995 »).
Two of his books are also published in 2015, « Un homme en fuite » (Robert Laffont)
and « l’Odyssée des marins » (Bouquins), written with his brother Olivier before going out in 2016 a book about Antoine de St Exupéry: « St Exupéry, le cartable aux souvenirs » (Michel Lafon). Also published Eloge des écrivains maudits in 2017 (Philippe Rey).
In addition to these brilliant careers, literary and journalistic, Patrick Poivre d'Arvor has animated for 20 years literary tv programs ( « Ex Libris » and « Vol de nuit ») and offers for 7 years on France 5 tv channel « Une maison, un artiste ».
He directed for France 3 tv channel
the film « Mon frère Yves », according to the work of Pierre Loti (2012), with Thierry Frémont and Jérome Kirscher.
Passionate about Opera, he directed « Carmen », with Manon Savary for a thirty performances (2010) and « Don Giovanni » (2013 in Belgium and 2014 in France) for Open Air Opera in sites and prestigious castles. Always with Manon Savary, he staged in « Un
amour en guerre », Caroline Glory's opera of which he wrote the libretto.
At the theater he adapted the play by Stefan Zweig, « Légende d’une vie ». In 2016, he also performed for 4 months the main role of « Garde alternée », (a play by Edwige Antier and Louis Michel Colla) at the Mathurins theater then at the theater of Gaiety Montparnasse. In April 2018, he performed at the Casino de Paris for a Quebec show « Patrick et ses Fantômes ».
He hosts a cultural and information program on Radio Classique since 2014, « le 19h-20 de Patrick Poivre d’Arvor », and since March 2017 "Vive les livres" on C News tv channel.
He is UNICEF's ambassador for Francophone countries since 2004.
He is Knight of the Order of the Legion of Honor, Officer of the Order of the Merit and Commander of Arts and Letters.
